Mamta MohandasDirector-Cinematographer Sathosh Sivan’s upcoming movie ‘Urumi’ has a lot of special features. It is a pan-India kind of movie which brings many talented personalities of Indian cinema together. Genelia D’souza, the ever smiling actress, plays one of the female lead roles in ‘Urumi’ which is entirely different from her previous ones; the movie itself being peculiar. She turns to a warrior princess in ‘Urumi’ which tells the story dating to the 15th century Vasco da Gama episode in Indian History.

The Mumbai born actress Genelia’s debut was in Hindi movie ‘Tuje Meri Kasam’ in 2003. She proved successful in Telugu, Kannada and Tamil movies. She received film fare award for best actress in 2006 for her Kannada film ‘Bommarillu’ in Telugu. She also played the same role in its Tamil version Santhosh Subramaniyam. Her upcoming Hindi movies are ‘Hook ya Crook’ and ‘It’s my love’. She is also busy with her Tamil movie ‘Velayutham’ in which Vijay plays the lead role.

Genelia is so excited with her character ‘Arakkal Ayesha’, in ‘Urumi’ because it is one among those limited characters in which she never gets a chance to smile. Ayesha of ‘Urumi’ is a very bold warrior princess. Prithviraj will play the lead role in ‘Urumi’ and he is also one among the producers of ‘Urumi’.

Other than Genelia and Prithviraj, the movie also casts Vikram, Prabhudeva, Jagathy Sreekumar, Tabu, Vidya Balan and many more. The songs composed by Deepak Dev are sung by Hariharan, Sukhwinder Singh, Kailash Kher and Shreya Goshal. The film is expected to release on 31st March next year.
