Celebrity Cricket League: T20 League for celebrities to begin in Jan
Indian celebrities from the major film industries of the country like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada are busy in organizing their cricket teams to play the Twenty20 matches of the celebrities which is supposed to kick off from the end of January at Bangalore. Mumbai Heroes, Chennai Superstars, Telugu Tigers and Bangalore Royals will be the names respectively. The event is titled as Celebrity Cricket League (CCL).
The Telugu movie world has not yet announced their team and Malayalam stars, are supposed to participate in the next season of CCL only. Other teams are almost ready for the game as reported by actor Sarath Kumar at a press conference in Chennai on Monday.
Bollywood celebrities, who are much experienced in playing matches with Indian and Sri Lankan cricket teams, will have Suniel Shetty as the captain. Sohail Khan, the sponsor of the team announced it on 1st December. Salman Khan will be their icon player. The ‘Mumbai Heroes’ include Riteish Deshmukh, Harman Baweja, Aftab Shivdasani, Kunal Khemu, Irrfan Khan, Zayed Khan, Sonu Sood, Ashish Choudhary, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Makrand Deshpande, Kabir Sadanand, Apoorva Lakhia and Angad Bedi
Tamil movies, now rich with young vibrant actors, will have the presence of actors like Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Narain, Ary
a, Bharath, Shanthanoo, Vikranth, Nanda, Atharva and Jai in their CCL team. The captain will be actor Abbas and Madhavan will also be there in the team. Surya will be the icon of ‘Chennai Superstars’, as announced by their owner actor Sarath Kumar on 20th December.
For Kannada Puneeth Rajkumar will be the icon player and Kicha Sudeep will be the captain. Renowned Indian cricket players of Karnataka, Sunil Gavaskar, Javagal Srinath and Venkatesh Prasad have already assured their support for the Bangalore Royals. Owner of the team Actor Ambareesh announced this on the first week of December.
The director of the CCL is Induri Vishnu Vardhana. The winners of CCL will get a reward of Rs 25 lakhs and the first edition will have 6 league matches. The finals will be at Hyderabad.
