Jayaraj
the director who has made some arty films in the past like Desadanam,
Kaliyattom and Santham turned commercial in a big way this year
with Thilakkam. This Dileep starrer was a crass comedy, which turned
out to be a super hit. He has now decided to make a film targeting
the youth of Kerala, who are the real moviegoers.
The film titled
For The People with all newcomers in the lead will be about a group
of college students. The newcomers are Bharat (of Boys fame), Gopika,
Arjun, Arun, Sravana, Sunil, Padma Kumar and Zacharia (Mammootty’s
youngest brother). Pranathi, the daughter of 80's lover boy Jose
and Gopika, the heroine in Paranayamanithooval and Cheran’s Tamil
film Autograph) are in the female lead.
This is a campus love story
where Vivek (Bharath) and Divya (Gopika) are engineering students.
For The People will be the first Malayalam film that got noticed
for a song more than the film itself. The hit song “Lajjavathiye
Lajjavathiye….” is a chartbuster sung by a debutant music director
Jasi Gift. This song was picturised in the Athirapalli waterfalls
with over 100 junior artists. There are seven songs in the film
written by Kaithapuram.
The story is by Iqbal Kuttipuram and the
camera is by Rajasekhar (of Kaakha Kaakha fame). Sabu Cherian produces
this film. According to Jayaraj: "For The People promises to be
a fast paced film that will appeal to the youth”.
