Sabarimala season begins in a week: A Pilgrimage by vehicle and foot

Sabarimala season begins on 17th November of this year. Pilgrims from world over trek their way across jungles and hills to pay their visits to their favorite deity just as soon as the temple doors open.

From Trivandrum airport, Sabarimala is located at 175 km. From Cochin airport it is located at 200 km.

Three important routes to Sabarimala are:


a. Kottayam- Erumeli- Pampa -Pampa to Sabarimala. Pilgrims can cover this 136 km by vehicle and an additional 5 km for the Pampa- Sabarimala stretch which has to be covered by foot.

b. Kottayam- Manimala –Pampa- Sabarimala by foot – Pilgrims can cover this 116 km by vehicle and an additional 5 km for the Pampa- Sabarimala stretch which has to be covered by foot.

c. Erumeli- Kalaketty - Pampa- Sabarimala. Pilgrims can cover this 45 km by vehicle and an additional 5 km for the Pampa- Sabarimala stretch which has to be covered by foot.

d. Vandiperiyar- Mount Estate- Sabarimala. Pilgrims can cover this 8 km by vehicle. The Mount Estate- Sabarimala stretch is 11 km and has to be covered by foot.

e. Vandiperiyar- Kozhikkanam- Uppupura- Sabarimala – Pilgrims can cover this 25 km by vehicle.The Uppupura- Sabarimala 3.5 km stretch has to be covered by foot.

For covering the last few kilometers of trekking distance, porters are available to carry the physically challenged or the elderly to the temple. All supplies are available by the sides of the trail leading to the temple.
