google chrome os indiaSonim Technologies’ JCB toughphone is every butterfingers’ dream come true. The phone has been tested under a lot of adverse conditions, being run over by trucks and placed in cement mixers being some among them. The phone comes with a long list of ‘tried and tested’ badges: it has submerged in water for close to 8 hours, burned at 75 oC and frozen at -30 oC. If you are thinking of branding it off as a hillbilly phone, then probably you need to be informed that the JCB toughphone plays music and even connects to the Bluetooth.

The phone has a louder volume adjustment than the regular phone, this mainly because the phone is after all designed for people who work in a rough-and-tough environment on a regular basis. The idea here is that the calls ought to be audible amidst noisy conditions.

The JCB phone comes in a yellow-black combination scheme and has a 3 year manufacturer’s warranty on it. The phone offers a standby time of 200 hours and is shock, moisture and dust proof. A mini USB connection comes with the charger and belt clip to hold the phone in place but there is no memory slot for expansion.

The JCB toughphone’s screen is crack and scratch resistant. The layout of the phone is quite simple and very basic. It comes with all the useful but basic applications like an organizer and calculator. The phone does not have a camera and it done not support enhanced multimedia texting, but it is WAP enabled. The phone also has a PTT service and it can be integrated with other PTT devices.
