Innovative mobile phone ideas from Malayalee students
The ‘Daily Mail’ newspaper of London reported that some special mobile phones can detect sexual abnormalities and diseases by processing urine samples. One should connect the urine sample report to the particular mobile phone software and connect it to system in the clinic. The mobile phone will detect the disease, it says. Nano technology is the base of this invention.
The above mentioned idea is a good innovation to identify sexual diseases in future. But when it comes to launching innovative ideas with mobile phones the Malayalee youth are not that far behind the rest of the world. A few young technical students of an Engineering college in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala came out with an innovative idea using advanced mobile phone technologies.
Final year Electronics and Communication students of the Carmel Engineering College created the idea of the Vehicle Position Information System (VPS) and conducted a trial in their own college bus. By Vehicle Position Information System the passengers will get frequent SMS to their mobile phones providing information about the vehicle service. That means the passengers inside the vehicle will be getting an SMS in their mobile phones giving an idea as to the current location of the bus.
The micro controller in the Vehicle Position Information System will save the data of the places traveled with or without the help of Google maps. The data will be scripted in the Global Positioning System (GPS). The data in the micro controller and the data in the Global Positioning System will undergo a cross-check, if it is same. The Global System of Mobile phones GSM will update the information as frequent messages to the mobile phones. These messages will only be sent to those mobile phone numbers which are already saved in the memory.
Another student from the MES Engineering college of Kuttippuram created a website for getting regular alerts of their attendance in class to the registered mobile phone numbers. This has been done by connecting the mobile phone network to the website of the college having all the details of the students of the college.
All in all, the students have done an excellent job, by providing innovative solutions for the simple but important difficulties in day-to-day life.
