Lakshmi Nair recipes: Healthy Pepper Fish Curry
This pepper fish curry is finger-licking good and while its quality is similar to that of a five-star restaurant, it can be
prepared easily in the comfort of your own kitchen. This fish is cooked completely oil-free and so is absolutely cholesterol free.
For the pepper fish curry, you will need:
1/2kg Fish, 10 Shallots (spring onions), 3 Green chilly, 2 tbsp pepper, ½ tsp turmeric powder, 4 cloves of a big Garlic, 1 cup water, some Curry leaves, 2 pieces of Kodumpuli (gamboog) and i/2 cup coconut milk (thick)
How to prepare:
Mix the shallots, pepper, chilly, garlic and turmeric and grind to a fine powder
Drop the slices of fish into the ground powder and make sure it coats the fish.
To the fish, now pour the water add, salt as required and kodumpuli.
Let the fish cook on a low fire
When the gravy starts to become thicker, check if the fish is cooked and then add the milk of the coconut and the curry leaves.
Let the whole mix boil well for 5 minutes.
Take off the fire and serve hot.
