John Titus was born at Kumbanad in Pathanamthitta District as the second son of KJ Titus, a business man by profession, and Mariamma Titus, a devout house wife. He has two brothers and two sisters.

He had his early education at a School near his house and completed his graduation in Economics (66-69) from St. Thomas College,Kozhencherry. He completed his Post-Graduation in Economics (69-71) from Marthoma College in Thiruvalla, Kottayam.

In 1971 he went to America to study Aeronautical Technology (71-74) from South Seattle Community College. After his studies he joined 'Tramco', a subsidiary of BF Goodrich and worked there for ten years as manager of component overhaul. In 1984 he started his own venture Aero Controls Inc.

He is married to Kusumam. She is looking after the real estate division and is one of the board members of Aero Controls Inc.

He has two daughters and one son. Joby Titus, his son, is a third year student of Aeronautical engineering, Jena Titus, eldest daughter, is a first year degree student of Public Relations and Mass-Communication and the youngest daughter, Julie Titus is a 11th grade student.
