Profile

Madhavan Nair, a well known Cineartist and Director, popularly known as Madhu, is a legend
in Malayalam cinema. He had enthralled the audience, through his spectacular performances and his expressions portraying grief and suffering in downcast roles as a doting lover, husband or father had moved many to tears.

Introduced by Ramu Kariat and Bhaskaran in the 1960's, to the celluloid world, he had acted in a record number, of about 400 films. After 'Chemeen', which earned him the reputation of a Character Actor, he continued his offbeat acting career in independent productions like, Adoor's 'Swayamvaram' & P.N.Menon's 'Olavum Theeravum'.

Away from his various conventional starring roles, he became better known for his assertive roles, through the film 'Ottayadi Paathakal'. His 'offbeat' reputation was enhanced by his directorial debut 'Priya', featuring Bengali actress, Lili Chakraborthy, which received critical appraisal in Kerala.

An admirer of Bengali culture, he played the role of a Bengali commando in
Abbas' film 'Saat Hindusthani'. He also acted in a few Tamil and Hindi films in various roles. Together with Sathyan & Prem Nazir, he defined Malayali
machismo in commercial productions.

Besides, he produced Children's film 'Mini' which was conferred the State and National Awards, and is going fullstream in producing 'Robo', a science fiction in that section.

Presently, Chairman of the charitable society running the School 'Saraswathi Vidyalaya' in Trivandrum, he still continues to be in the arclight, enacting his
role in teleserials.
