She is married to TP Sreenivasan, India’s ambassador to Austria. The couple has two children, Sreenath Sreenivasan, Journalism professor, Columbia University, and Sreekanth Sreenivasan , a Business Administrator in Vienna.

Sreenath is married to Roopa Unnikrishnan, Commonwealth Games gold medallist in shooting and the recipient of Arjuna Award, 1999.
