KC Varghese,
a well-known journalist and social activist based in Doha is associated
with several organisations which espouse the cause of expatriates in
gulf and commands an esteemed position amidst the large Malayalee community
by way of his activities at various levels through several organisations.
He worked
for about 20 years in the Gulf as a freelance journalist and as part
of his journalistic duties, travelled extensively all over the world
and attended several important world events like the Madrid peace conference,
many Arab-Israeli conferences, GCC conferences, post Gulf-war scene,
Middle East and North African summit etc.
He has
covered many of the major happenings in the Gulf sector for a prominent
Malayalam daily and used to splash his views on anything and everything
through their broadsheet.
Even during
his student days, he was very much outgoing and became the president
of Malayala Manorama, Kunnam unit, Mavelikkara at the age of 13.
As a natural
extension to these childhood activities, he became associated with student
organisations, while in College. He entered the stormy world of politics
through campus activities and served as the President of Kerala Students
Union for some time and later became President of Block Youth Congress
Committee in Changacherry only to progress towards the leadership of
Trade Unions in Kottayam district.
He had
to face much criticism from others for choosing politics and had to
leave for gulf in search of better opportunities during the 80s. Now,
he has spent almost 21 years in the Middle East. Here too, he seldom
deviated from his established principles and has been working for the
betterment of his fellow human beings.
An efficient
coordinator, he worked behind the scenes in making the visits of several
dignitaries and ministers from the Indian sub-continent successful.
