Profile of Mr. M. JACOB & Family



Mathai Jacob was born into an ancient Marthoma family from Kundra, as the fourth son of Late Mr. Thomas Mathai, a businessman by profession and Late Mrs. Sosamma Mathai, a devoted housewife. He has three brothers and three sisters.

Jacob believed in constant and sincere hard work as the key to success ever since his childhood .He has graduated from University of Poona, post graduation, Law, Management Studies from University of Bombay. He started his career with a British firm in Bombay. He later joined as a Marketing Executive in an NRI group based in Nairobi in 1981 and after a while he was posted in their associate company in Lagos. Jacob later left the company to start his own venture applying his marketing skills.

Jacob had an enterprising nature from the very beginning and is now the proud owner of  “WALLACE GROUP” in Lagos, West Africa dealing with various Multinational Companies in West Africa and Asian Countries .It had diversified systematically having own and associate offices in West Africa, London, Hong Kong, Dubai and Bombay.

Jacob has an active interest in social work and rural development. He is one of the most successful Malayalee in Africa and represents West Africa at the World Malayalee Council (WMC) and Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), U.S.A. Jacob was awarded the Hind Rattan Award by the former President K.R  Narayanan  in 2003. Mr. M .Jacob had a chance to meet many head of states , key government  officials and Businessmen of various countries.

Jacob married Sicily in 1979. Sicily was born into an ancient Marthoma family from Chengannur as the first daughter of Mr.T.C. Thomas an accountant of British owned Tea Estate in Tamil Nadu and Late Thankamma Thomas who was a devoted housewife. Sicily has one sister only. Sicily is a graduate in Science and post graduate in Education from University of Kerala, DCA (Computer) & PGD (Theology) from reputed Institutions. Sicily pursued her teaching profession in reputed schools in Kerala, Bombay and Kenya.

Sicily became full time active Social Worker since 1982 and is associated with many Charity Organizations, like International Women’s Society, Indian Women Association, Indian Ladies Society, Small World, Missionary of Charity (Calcutta), Artificial Limbs Project. She is the first Malayalee Woman to be elected to Governing Council of International Women’s Society, Indian Women Association and was Vice President of Kerala Samajam in Lagos.

She has adopted novel methods of fund raising to enable the organizations to support as many as 35 different Charity Institutions .She was the President of World Malayalee Women Forum and Council Member of World Malayalee Mobile Health Care Unit. Now she is the Vice President (Admin) in World Malyalee Council.

They have two Children, Jessy and Sujil. Jessy was born in Mombasa, end of 1982. She had her education from Good Shepherd International School in Ooty. She has qualified with distinction in  B.E. (Computer science) from Coimbatore  Institute of Technology (CIT) in Coimbatore and  M.S. from University of Bristol, UK and  presently working with  a reputed IT company in London, UK.
 Jessy‘s leadership qualities have enabled her to hold many posts in various clubs like English Club, Rotary Club and Space Club. She is a talented singer, guitarist and has also published a poem.

Sujil was born in Lagos, in middle of 1987. He had his education from Good Shepherd International school in Ooty. He is currently pursuing Medicine from one of the oldest and renowned Medical University in  Europe. He is an all rounder in the academic and co-curricular fields. He is a talented Artist and has won awards both National and International.  He has qualified grades in piano from the Trinity College of Music, London and has exemplary public speaking skills.

Jacob & Sicily had an opportunity to meet Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh during his visit to Nigeria on 14th October 2007 , as one of the prominent Indian among Indian community in Nigeria. 

Jacob & his family have visited more than seventy-five countries across all the five Continents. They had an opportunity to travel in the supersonic Concorde Flight & world famous cruise  Queen Mary-2(QM2). They also had the opportunity to visit most of the Natural and Man made Wonders of the World and Holy Lands. They lead a spiritually rich life and attribute all their success to God.

The couple thanks the Almighty God to enable them reach this level from the scratch.
