Achievements

Ranks: SSLC-3, PUC-5, IAS-7, MA-1

After entering IAS he has worked in almost all important jobs a member of the IAS can hold. He retired in the rank of Chief Secretary. Innovative ideas and dynamic execution set him apart while in the civil service. He intervened in the yarn market on behalf of the handloom weavers of Cannanore in 1960s. In 1970s he became the driving force to complete the Idukki Project, an India Canada venture that had lagged behind schedule, and was even on the point of being abandoned when the most outstanding CM of Kerala, Achyuta Menon identified him as Project Co-ordinator. Later he put Travancore Titanium back on rails after the expansion of capacity and as Fisheries Secretary initiated welfare measures like special buses for fishmongers for their transport to and from downtown areas. He became the youngest Finance Secretary of the state and closed those years without cash overdraft. As Port Chairman  conceived the idea of the International Transshipment Terminal now under construction. As Member, Board of Revenue made a six-fold increase in revenue collection over a 4-year period. As Tourism Secretary initiated backwater tourism and many other imaginative schemes which were seminal in making Kerala the prime tourist destination that it is today. As Secretary for Cultural Affairs won universal acclamation among Malayalees all over the world for the numerous imaginative and innovative programmes initiated over a decade.
