Antony,
the Rebel
Antony always showed his uncompromising attitude towards idealism. He
stood firmly on his policies even when he faced utmost crisis from his
party. He hesitated not to oppose his party's supreme leader Indira
Gandhi demanding her to withdraw emergency in the Guwahathi AICC meeting
of 1976. Antony who always acted according to his conscience resigned
his chief ministership in 1978 when the Congress Parliamentary Board
took favourable decisions to support Indira Gandhi to contest in Chickamanglore
by polls. In the same way he strongly protested against the ousting
of Sarad Pawar from the party when the latter questioned the party leadership.
He is an adventurous personality who always took an active part to form
a strong united array against vested interests and communalism.

did not come under Civil Supplies department he dealt with, he once
again exhibited his valour of idealism to resign from Rao's ministry.
