Life and Films
Beginnings:
As the son of Madhavanunnithan and Gourikunjamma , he was
born in a village of Adoor in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala
on 3rd of July ,1941-into a family which traditionally patronised
and practised Kathakali.
Basic Education:
His school education was at Kottara Lower Primary School,
Vadakkedathukaavu Upper Primary School and at Adoor
High School.
College Education:
He studied at Pandalam N.S.S. College for Pre-University.
In 1960, he graduated in Economics and Political Science
from Gandhigram Rural University (Madurai) . By this time
he had produced over 20 plays besides authoring half-a-dozen
of them. In the year 1962, he left his job in government service to
join Film and Television Institute of India, Pune . Adoor
received merit scholarship there and in 1965 , he graduated
in Script writing and Direction.
