World’s costliest car Bugatti Veyron to ride the roads of India
World’s most expensive car, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport will hit India priced at Rupees16 crores a car. This is interesting to note because India is a country which is also home to the world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano priced at an average of Rupees 1.5 lakhs a car.
Bugatti Veyron comes from the Volkswagen group of companies and is a luxury car in every sense of the word. The car is manufactured with materials which are specific to race cars and uses the lightweight material Makrolon to make the roof of the semi convertible models of the car easy open and close for situations like say, a cross-country ride and a stormy night.
The engine of the car is reported to be built manually, and no automated machinery is involved in the process. The engine of the car supports a capacity of 8000 cc, in direct contrast with the Nano car (624 cc). On open roads, the Grand Sport can reach a maximum speed of 400 kmph, but at a price of having to refill the tank in the next 15 minutes. Tata Nano going at a maximum speed a quarter of the Veryron will however provide a mileage of approximately 20 kmph.
Often recognized as the fastest legal car on normal roads, the car gets its name from Pierre Veyron, the race car driver from France. The car is engineered to go from 0 to 400 kmph in 50 seconds and rides with a horse-power of 1200 metric, making the prospect of driving this car a lifetime achievement for any race car fanatic.
Not just that, the car is also designed to brake by hitting zero from 400 kmph in about 10 seconds. With twelve radiators and16 cylinders this high power luxury car will hit exclusive showrooms in New Delhi this year.
