Toyota Etios enters India: Review of Toyota Etios sedanBMW’s 520d is a diesel version of the 5 series and is designed to look less sporty than the earlier versions. According to user reviews, even though it is just the entry level car of the 5 series, the BMW 520d looks a lot like the superior the BMW 7 series with even the features inside the car resembling the BMW series 7.

As far as the exterior of the car is concerned, the car is classy and quite plain looking, as opposed to the more sporty 6 series. The shut-lines around the boot-lid make the car resemble the rear of the BMW 6 series, though slightly. The front bumper has a couple of fog lights which are linked by a chrome rod. The trimmings on the window and the exhausts are also chrome plated, completing the look.

The interior design of the car has been well appreciated, but the general review has been that it feels smaller when compared to the luxurious exterior of the car. The dashboard juts out a bit into the front, making it a slight inconvenience to the passengers in the front. Apart from that and the fact that the transmission tunnel in the back of the car can be uncomfortable for the middle passenger, the car does offer comfort and enough legroom to all passengers.

The car comes as a standard BMW would, offering all the basic features that one would expect from the brand. There is an MP3 player, bluetooth compatibility system, satellite navigation on a 61/2” LCD and trip computing. Other default features like CC, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers are present too. Using the BMW options list, packages can be bought and added on to the car thus enhancing its features.

The BMW 5 series 520d has a 4 cylinder, 1995cc engine, giving a 184 horse power drive. There is an automated gear system for 8 speed variations and the 520d delivers a mileage of 18.4 kilometers for every liter.

The BMW 5 series 520d offers comfortable riding and has less noise when driven on the road. The pick up of the BMW 520d is such that the car can go from 0-100 kmph in 8.1 seconds. The BMW 520d sedan is engineered to deliver a maximum speed of 227 kmph speed with its 17” light-alloy wheel system.

The BMW 520d sure is no match with the 2497 cc, 202 bhp powered BMW 523i series in terms of the speed and acceleration, but priced almost 5 lakhs lesser than the high-end BMW 5 series, the BMW 520d does deliver.

The BMW 5 series 520d sedan is available in 10 colors and is priced in India at 36.9 lakhs.
