Increase in retail trade is also being planned by bringing in more outlets into the International Airport.

With Cochin International Airport Limited reaching out to the stars, where does it leave Trivandrum Airport?

Even at the onset, the Trivandrum International Airport has been troubled by delays and obstacles. The celebrations on the long-due completion of the Trivandrum International Airport were dampened by the protests on the controversial User Development Fee imposed by the authorities on the passengers. The initial flight operations launched from the airport led to prolonged periods of embarrassment for the authorities when the Air India Damam flight crash landed on the runway and remained there for consecutive days due to the lack of engineers who could deliver the technical fixes.

Rumours of AirAsia planning to cancel its flights to Trivandrum, thanks to the much criticized attitude of the authorities, also haunt the progress of this new airport which has been a dream in the waiting for the international passengers in Trivandrum.
