New terminal of Trivandrum International Airport to host only international flights
The new terminal of Trivandrum International Airport will host only international travels. The earlier plan of housing domestic flights from the airport terminal seems to have run to its dead end. The Airport Authority of India believe that the new terminal has been specially constructed for the purpose of catering to the needs of passengers traveling abroad and hence hosting domestic passengers will add problems to the already faltering plans of the airport.
The Airport Autority of India has already communicated its plans to the related agencies operating out of it such as immigration and customs departments, of its decision.
The airport which has been facing controversies ever since its launch earlier this month, has yet to decide on its problematic management decisions such as the development fee of approximately Rupees 750 collected from every international passenger for a planned period of ten years. The airport passengers had protested the fee quoting instances from other international airports where new development fee had been levied from the users.
Further situations such as the crash landing of Air India Dammam flight in the terminal and the ensuing embarrassment from the non-availability of engineers among the Air India staff, has led the airport to instruct Air India to occupy the space in the airport basement to concentrate developing its ground crew and technical offices
