Terminate contracts with Pepsi - Dabur, instructs Medical Council of India to the Indian Medical Association. The contract was signed to the effect of having the Indian Medical Association endorsing certain products of Pepsi and Dabur. Consequently, the contract led to the suspension of the National President Elect and the General Secretary of IMA.

The IMA has allegedly carried out the endorsement of PepsiCo products like Tropicana and Quaker Oats and Dabur’s Odomus cream. A Special Governing Body agreed with the decision of the Ethics Society of IMC to nullify the contractual arrangement between IMA and the private companies. The society also recommended the removal of the names of the President and Secretary from the register of the Association, following the termination of contract. It also requested severe action to be taken against the 187 members who were directly or indirectly involved in the contract.

It has been found out that the accused IMA authorities had been bribed an amount close to Rupees 2.25 crores as a part of the endorsement deal.
