Indian Science Congress 2011: Projects of two young girls from Kerala get entry
Indian Science Congress 2011 opened its doors to two children from Kerala. Two young scientists of Kerala achieved an entry into the 98th Indian Science Congress for their science projects that were submitted. The Congress will be held at SRM University of Chennai from 3 to 7 January next year. Shafna Rafzana from DVMNNM Higher Secondary School, Maranalloor, Thiruvananthapuram and Shonima Nelliyattu from the GHSS of Mundery, Kannur are the two young scientists who were selected in the State Children’s Science Congress which ended in Kollam on 30 November.
A selected 16 child scientists from the State Children’s Science Congress, including others will participate in the 13th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) at Wales University, Chennai, from 27 to 31 December. New Delhi based National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) Network organizes the NCSC. Around 500 child scientists from the country will participate in the NCSC with their scientific projects.
The 16 scientists selected from the Kerala Children’s Science Congress also got a cash prize for the projects they had submitted. They are eligible to get grace marks in the SSLC and Higher Secondary exams as well. All categories of the science congress including the Teachers’ Science Congress conducted by the government are aimed to disseminate scientific knowledge to all levels of the Indian society.
