Bhutan Lottery ought to be banned, says Achuthanandan in his letter to Chidambaram. Chief Minister of state V.S.Achuthanandan has once again sought the Central government to repeal the Bhutan Lottery which has alleged terrorist connections. The lottery that has already made about Rs 80,000 crore within the past four years was being conducted in strong violation of clause 6 of the Centre’s Lotteries (Regulation) Act of 1998.

Suggesting corrective measures against this anti-social activity, the Chief Minister had sent a letter to the Union Home Minister, P.Chidambaram along with the documents of a meeting convened by the centre on running the Bhutan Lotteries. The unclaimed prize money is said to be used as black money and if it was used for terrorist activities, is an issue that should be considered with grave concern. Hence, the economic tribulations of the lottery should be investigated by the National Investigation Agency of the Central Bureau of Investigation, said the Chief Minister.

Only when the Bhutan lottery works as per the rules of the land or the National Investigation Agency gives a clean chit to it, should it be allowed to run in the country, until then a nationwide ban should be imposed, said the Chief Minister.
