Almost 2.5 lakhs was seized from the officers and agents of various Road Transport Offices across the state in a raid conducted by the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau of the state of Kerala.

The Bureau’s raid also managed to appropriate close to 400 RC books and unaccounted money extorted from the public. The raid follows a series of complaints registered by vehicle owners on the prevailing corruption in the Road Transport Offices of the state.

Trivandrum emerged as the most corrupt RTO Office in the state when the Bureau uncovered accounting frauds amounting to around 2 lakhs and RC books were seized. Parasala, Thrissur, Waynad, Palakkad and Kollam were also among the offices from which the Bureau uncovered extorted money, Vehicle Licenses and RC books.

The Bureau uncovered that officers, agents and attendants of the RTO Offices were equally involved in the widespread extortion process.
