The life detecting device, SANJEEVANI bears significance in regions which are prone to natural and man made calamities such as earthquakes, cyclones .

Researched and developed in a Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) laboratory, the life detecting device, SANJEEVANI is the product of the National Physical and Oceanographic laboratory. The life detecting device has been subject to intial demonstration before the National Disaster management Authority and has won accolades for its scientific significance.

Keltron’s pet project SANJEEVANI the life detecting device, is in essence a little blue box efficient in detecting sound through the air, even through an artificial or natural sound barrier. It consists of an assembly comprising of acoustic sensor probe, a control unit, a headphone set and a nylon belt acting as the device mount. The life detecting device, SANJEEVANI is extremel portable and easy to set up during an unforeseen emergency. SANJEEVANI’s life detecting system can detect even sounds emerging in low frequencies, such as scratching, sobbing, moaning and tapping on surfaces.

The victim’s sound waves will be collected by the life detecting system the strength of which will in turn be used to locate the victim. The LED display screen on the life detecting device can be useful in terms of nocturnal operations. Victims within a range of 5 to 10 m can be identified and located using this unique device.

Gujarat’s Directorate of Civil Defence has already placed demands for SANJEEVANI, Keltron’s life detecting device. The Defence Technology Spin-off award 2009 has already been bestowed on the life detecting device, SANJEEVANI. The life detecting device will be subject to many more discussions in the coming months to arrive at a feasible marketing strategy for the life detection using the device in both India and overseas.
