Why should boys have all the fun? Women Cinema in IFFK
The much awaited15th edition of IFFK will have an increased participation of women in
the craft of film making. Twelve notable woman directors from various countries will impart a feminine fragrance to the world cinema. Five world class films in an exclusive Women Section is a star highlight of the 15th IFFK.
One of the most renowned of these film makers who is visiting the fest this time is, Sofia Coppola, daughter of the much revered Hollywood director Francis Coppola who had directed numerous on-screen master pieces, like God father and Apocalypso Now.
Sofia Coppola had earlier won Golden Lion award at the Venice film festival for her magnum opus creation, Somewhere. She was the first American to receive this prestigious award. The list also includes directors like Paz Fabrega, Anahi Barnehi and Susseine bier who had received numerous accolades across the globe.
The films in the Women’s section deal with the diverse aspects of life ranging from domestic love to the woes of migrating societies. They are the exquisite samples of creativity intermixed with real life happenings.
