Permanent Venue to IFFK, still a dream: Films in 10 theatres

As if the dream will ever remain a dream, this time also, without a permanent venue, the 15th International Film Festival of Kerala will have ten venues spread across the city in ten theatres. Daily five shows will be screened in each of these theatres.

Last year, Chalachitra Academy had spent about Rs 38 lakhs for hiring just the theatres alone. Considering this huge expense the academy has to meet every year, a proposal for establishing a permanent venue to the IFFK, by converting the Tagore Centenary Hall as a cultural complex, is still withheld. Realizing the significance of the issue, the government had allocated a budget of Rs 50 lakhs to meet with the initial expense; still the project has not moved an inch for the past one year.

With about 8000 delegates, 150 foreign guests and scores of media professionals, the festival allures film lovers across the globe that has esteemed the previous editions of the festival for its very passionate audience.
