Packages reviving Cultural Renaissance


Films depicting life, its varieties and aspirations will adorn the special list of films in the 15th edition of IFFK. 21 films from Latin America, Central Asia and Spain will reveal the rich culture and heritage of the people.

The Latin American films will be screened in the Bicentennial film section which includes eight major films from Venezuela, Paraguay, Equador, Argentina, Mexico, Bolivia and Chile. These films include some of the classic works like Luis Bunuel’s The Young and the Damned and Miguel Perez’s The Lost republic. The Latin American films are the most genuine portrayal of life facing oppression and it’s longing for a rebellion.

Central Asian films deal with common men’s agonies. Central Asian directors are most adept in narrating common instances in an extraordinary manner. Seven films from Tajikisthan, Kyrgisthan, Uzbekisthan and Kazakisthan will be screened. The list includes films like Orator, Angel on the right shoulder, Kardiogram, Saratan, The Adopted son, The daughter in law and Revenge.

‘Flamenco films’ is a unique package of films focusing on the traditional dance form of ‘flamenco’. These films are a part of serious endevour to introduce the distinguished aspects of Spanish culture.
