Not just fun and frolic, 15th IFFK: High prize money
IFFK 2010 organized by Kerala Chalachitra academy will screen 200 films in various genres across ten selected venues. This thick pack of films has already ignited the fervor of film fans in the country.
Fourteen hand picked films from Asia, Africa and America will compete for the golden crow pheasant award which comprises of Suvarna Chakoram and a cash award of 15 lakhs rupees,a sudden increase of 5 lakhs rupees. The best director will be awarded Rajatha Chakoram and 5 lakhs rupees as price money. Like wise, the Prize money for the best debut director and popular film were also to 3 lakhs and 2lakh rupees respect .As part of governments policy of promoting Malayalam films, a grant of 1 lakhs rupees will be given to selected Malayalam films.
Even while receiving popular accolades, the commercial aspects of classical films are always thrown in to oblivion, the aesthetics of the films are well perceived but not the pain endured by the makers. That is where the patronizing approach of the academy deserves standing ovation.
