Malayalam Cinemas race to the Golden Crow Pheasant Award


Mean while the film festivals are about to start, the expectations of  Malayalam film lovers are running high as two Malayalam films are in the race for the Golden crow pheasant award. Palerimanikkyam, and T.D Dasan Std 6 B will be the two Malayalam cinemas that will be featured in the competition film segment of 15th edition of IFFK. The list of 14 films also includes two other Indian films thus making a total of four.

Palerimanikkam

Palerimanikyam-Oru pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha directed by Ranjith and T.D dasan std 6b  directed by Mohan Raghavan  had earlier earned appreciation for their explicit story line and directorial treatement. Palerimanikyam had won accolades for the best actor, actress and Best film in the Kerala state film award 2009. Veteran actor Mammootty played the roles of Ahmed Haji, Haridas Ahmed and Khalid Ahmed in the film. Swetha menon and Mythili also showed their matchless potentials in the film. The film was based on T.P Rajeevan’s novel with the same title. TD Dasan



T.D Dasan std 6b written and directed by Mohan Raghavan deals with the life of a 6th standard student whose father has left him since he was a child. The film meticulously narrates the pain and feelings of a boy who cherishes for his father’s affection. Biju menon,Jagadish and Swetha menon plays lead roles in the film. The film was very well appreciated by the critics for its pristine theme and simple narrative technique.

Swetha Menon plays powerful roles in both the films and obviously, the 15th edition of IFFK may become a mile stone in her career.
