First Malayalam competition film, TD Dasan Std 6 B, raises high hopes

T.D DASAN std.6B, one of the two Malayalam filmS to be included in the competition segment of IFFK 2O10 was screened today at the festival. The film directed by Mohan Raghavan, tells the story of Dasan who was deserted by his father. Out of his love for his father he shoots off a letter to his fathers ‘address which unfortunately reaches the hands of Biju Menon who plays the role of an advertisement director.Out of sympathy Biju Menon’s lone daughter corresponds with Dasan disguising herself as his father. The poor boy gets overwhelmed by his father’s letters that he decides to come to his father during the vacation. This lands the little kid of Biju Menon in trouble. Finally she reveals the whole thing to her father and they travel to Palakkad to meet Dasan and disclose the truth. They later come to know that Dasan’s mother has expired and finally, they decide to take him along with them.
T.D Dasan has a simple story line told in a direct manner avoiding complex film language and scene construction. The sincere approach of the director to make the film appear pacy is clearly visible. Overall the subject is convincing and has hit the emotions of the viewers.
