BY SHAN A.S
“Love is colder than death”, the maiden film of Rassbinder was screened in 15th edition of IFFK-2010 today at Sreekumar Theatre. The film as expected had a thick packed audience. The film hovers around the lives of Franz, his fiancé who is a whore and Bruno. It is all about the crime-infested life of Franz, Bruno and Joenna . Bruno and franz got acquainted in the prison. Later they move to Munich and start their criminal life. They are apprehended briefly and later left alone. The sexual life, conversation and eye movements of the characters successfully convey the story.
The character of Franz is played by Fassbinder himself. The lengthy shots with less jargoned dialogues easily carry across the plot.
