15th IFFK inaugurated at Kanakakkunnu amongst a huge gathering

The official inauguration of IFFK 2010 was held at Kanakakkunnu palace, Trivandrum on December 10th. The festival was inaugurated by Sri V.S Achuthananthan, honourable chief minister of the state. He congratulated the organisers for conducting such aan outstanding fest which will open new vistas to the scores of film viewing audience across the nation.

Educational and Cultural affairs Minister M.A Baby who delivered the presidential address said that ample support should be given to the non-commercial films with artistic value. The function also witnessed the felicitation of Waheeda Rahman who was the chief guest of the function. Life time achievement award was presented to the great German director Werner Herzog by V.S Achuthananandan. A book revealing the life and works of Werner was also released. The official bulletin of the festival was presented by Mayor Advocate K Chandrika to the General Secretary, Producer’s Association, Mr Suresh Kumar.

Robing of Jnanapith laurate O.N.V Kurup was the highlight of the event. After the public meet, a dance performance based on O.N.V’s illustrious poem “Amma”, choreographed by Kalamandalam Hemalatha was also held. Soon after the function, the inaugural film “Please Don’t Disturb” was screened in the presence of its director and producers along with a jampacked audience.
